About the Chopta Tungnath Trek
Tungnath is the highest of the five Kedar temples at 3,680 m, and Chandrashila is the summit another kilometre and a half above it. The walk up from Chopta is short — about 4 km — but it ends on a ridge with Nanda Devi, Trishul and Chaukhamba spread across the whole northern skyline.
Two nights in Chopta, with Haridwar on the way up and Rishikesh on the way down. This is a good first Himalayan trek: high enough to feel like one, gentle enough that most people finish it comfortably.
